St. Thomas hosts various youth sports camps and clinics throughout the year. Some are sponsored by Tommie coaches, others are run by outside groups who rent the St. Thomas facility.

Full-day, half-day, and overnight camps for boys and girls (grades 4-9) and evening camps for high school boys and girls (grades 9-12) will be held at the University of St. Thomas. Camp staff will consist of current and former college players and coaches. Emphasis will be placed on skill development, goal-setting, motivation, and teamwork.
The 2004 dates include June 7-11 and 14-18; July 7-10; and Aug. 11-15.

Tauer is assistant men’s basketball coach and a professor in the department of psychology at St. Thomas, where he studies motivational issues related to goal-setting, competition, and cooperation.
Legendary St. Thomas coach Dennis Denning sponsors a holiday-break baseball clinic each year between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. In 2003, a Pitching/Catching clinic was held Dec. 26-28, and a Hitting/Fielding clinic was held Dec. 29-31. Grades 5-8 sessions were held in the morning (9-11:30 a.m.) and grades 9-12 were held in the afternoon (1-3:30 p.m.). The registration deadline is Dec. 10, and the cost is $90 per session ($165 for both sessions). The clinic field is limited in size and usually fills up.

Former Minnesota Gopher and 11-year NBA player Trent Tucker will hold his annual youth basketball camp again at the University of St. Thomas. There are two sessions – June 27-July 1 and July 18-22.
